About Speaking Rock
Speaking Rock Casino is a wholly owned tribal entity of the Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo (YDSP), a sovereign Native American nation established in 1682. Known as the Pueblo or the Tiguas, YDSP is one of three federally recognized tribes—and the only Pueblo—in the State of Texas. Today, the Pueblo’s population includes approximately 4,226 members nationwide. Just thirteen miles from downtown El Paso, the community of Ysleta has been home to the Tigua people for more than 300 years.

Today
Today, the Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo is an active partner in the greater El Paso region. Its government and business enterprises—including Speaking Rock Casino—provide meaningful employment and contribute significantly to the local economy. With a workforce nearing 2,000 across all tribal entities, YDSP members proudly fill roughly 30% of these positions. These employment opportunities support the Pueblo’s mission of achieving economic self-sufficiency and elevating the quality of life for its members.

Future
Revenue generated by the Pueblo’s enterprises directly funds essential community services and infrastructure, including health care, education, law enforcement, tribal courts, elder programs, housing, economic development, and capital improvements. Education, job creation, and workforce development remain top priorities, as these initiatives strengthen self-determination and ensure a sustainable future.
YDSP’s commitment to self-governance is reflected in every facet of its operations. Self-governance empowers tribal nations to manage federal resources, set priorities based on community needs, and build economic foundations rooted in sovereignty. It is not merely a program—it is a guiding principle that inspires innovation, resilience, and long-term success.
As part of this proud and enduring legacy, Speaking Rock Casino is dedicated to advancing the Pueblo’s mission, honoring its cultural heritage, and supporting the prosperity of its people and the surrounding region.
